What is Super Floss?
Super Floss is a special type of dental floss designed to clean hard-to-reach areas such as dental bridges, fixed dentures, braces and areas with dental implants. It has a more distinctive feature than regular dental floss.
Super Floss Structure
Super Floss usually consists of 3 main parts:
- Stiff End – Acts as a guide for the floss to pass easily under bridges or braces.
- Spongey Floss – Helps remove food particles and plaque better. Suitable for wide gaps between teeth or areas that require more cleaning than usual.
- Regular Floss – Used to remove plaque along the gum line.
How to Use Super Floss for Dental Bridges
- Insert the stiff tip under the bridge – Use the stiff tip to guide the floss under the bridge.
- Use the sponge tip to clean – Use a gentle back-and-forth motion under the bridge to remove plaque and food particles.
- Use the regular floss tip – Use the remaining floss to brush between your teeth as usual, wrapping it in a C shape around each tooth.
Benefits of Super Floss
✔️ Cleans deeper between teeth and under bridges than a toothbrush alone
✔️ Easy to use even with braces or implants
✔️ Reduces the risk of gum disease and tooth decay in hard-to-reach areas
Cautions
- Use Super Floss gently to avoid gum irritation.
- Avoid pulling the floss too hard, as this can cause injury.
- Use it regularly with a toothbrush and mouthwash for good oral health.
Super Floss is an important helper for those with dental bridges or braces. If used correctly, it can effectively maintain oral health and extend the life of the dental bridge! 😊
Using Superfloss for people with braces
Superfloss is a special dental floss that consists of two parts. The two ends are small, hard cores that can be inserted into tight and narrow spots. The other part in the middle has soft hairs that can remove bacteria and food residue stuck in the gaps between teeth and braces. To use it, insert the hard core part or pass it under the braces wire. Then move the soft center part to brush your teeth.
Benefits of Superfloss
Since our teeth have gaps between two adjacent teeth, this area is an easy spot for bacterial plaque to stick to. And if left untreated, it will gradually thicken, causing gingivitis and tartar buildup. This area cannot be cleaned with a toothbrush, so it is necessary to use dental floss or superfloss only.
How to Use Superfloss
- Use the hard end of the wire to insert through the gap between the teeth and the orthodontic wire.
- Pull the Superfloss wire through the orthodontic wire until it reaches the Superfloss, which is similar to the sponge, until it reaches the orthodontic wire or the area of the orthodontic appliance that we want to clean, such as the bracket area.
- Use the sponge part to clean the orthodontic wire by moving it back and forth.
- You can move the Superfloss wire on the sponge to the next position that you want to clean.
- The Superfloss wire, which is thin like regular dental floss, is used to clean the sides of the teeth, between the teeth, and along the gum line in the same way as normal dental floss.
- Follow all instructions in other areas of the mouth throughout the area with braces, brackets, and between the teeth.
- It is recommended to use Superfloss every day, at least once before brushing your teeth in the evening. This will help reduce the accumulation of food debris and bacteria.
However, using dental floss while wearing braces will take longer than usual. If patients can do it continuously every day, it will help reduce the risk of tooth decay or gum disease while wearing braces.
