General Care:
- Oral Hygiene: Brush and floss regularly using proper techniques, but brush gently around the treated tooth.
- Rinse: After meals, rinse your mouth with clean water or as advised by your dentist. You may use an antiseptic mouthwash or warm salt water to reduce inflammation.
- Medication: Take all prescribed medications exactly as directed by your dentist.
- Dental Visits: Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments to monitor healing and ensure the tooth remains healthy.
Diet and Eating:
- Initial Period: Avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods such as nuts, candies, or tough meat.
- Recommended Foods: Eat soft foods like porridge, soft rice, scrambled eggs, tofu, or fish.
- Cold Foods: Cold foods like ice cream or chilled yogurt can help reduce pain and swelling.
- Chewing: Chew using the opposite side of your mouth and avoid chewing with the treated tooth.
If Temporary Filling Comes Out:
- Immediate Action: Contact your dentist immediately if the temporary filling is dislodged to prevent bacteria from entering the root canal.
After Completion of Treatment:
- Crown Placement: Your dentist may recommend a post and crown to strengthen the tooth and prevent fractures.
- Fragile Tooth: Even with a crown, the treated tooth may remain weaker than natural teeth. Avoid biting or chewing very hard foods such as ice or bones.
