Recommendations
- Always inspect the appliances before leaving the clinic to ensure there are no sharp wires or components. If there are, inform the dentist for adjustments. In the early stages of wearing the appliance, you may experience irritation or sores; keep orthodontic wax handy, and place small pieces on the irritating areas. After brushing your teeth thoroughly, rinse with warm saltwater at least twice daily (morning and night)
- You may experience discomfort after having the appliances fitted or after wire adjustments, which may affect your eating. Opt for soft foods like milk, porridge, or rice soup. You can take pain relievers like PARACETAMOL or ASPIRIN as needed to manage discomfort.
- Brush your teeth after meal or snack, especially near the gum line. Keep a toothbrush on hand for this purpose. Additionally, visit a general dentist for regular oral health check-ups and cleanings every 6
- Be careful with food choices – avoid hard, sticky, or crunchy snacks. This includes ice, squid, toffee, gum, and chocolate. Do not chew corn on the cob. For vegetables, fruits, and meats (like hamburgers and pizza), tear or cut them into small pieces and chew carefully, using your back teeth.
- Change elastics at least twice a day – in the morning and before bed. Always have spare elastics available, and replace them immediately if one breaks.
- If your appliance is broken, displaced, or loose, keep all pieces and contact your dentist immediately to fix it. And please bring the dislodged appliance with you.
